More on Sharpton Mass
Daily news article.
So I would love to get people's opinion about this. Some of you have already sounded off.
1) was Al Sharpton's participation in Critical Mass helpful or counter productive for drawing attention to the 4 year harassment campaign of the bike ride?
2) How can we build upon the what happened with the May Critical Mass and have a more unified ride in June?
3 Comments:
There were those who were there to ride their bikes in a large group around the city to promote biking on the streets (alas the people who had "This is Critical Mass, Not the Sharpton Show" on their bags and backs), and those who wanted to stay with Sharpton and protest the Sean Bell murder, then ride their bikes with Sharpton.
I dont really think there was any latter between the two, and I dont think it did anything for to help or harm Critical Mass other than give Sharpton another chance to get on his podium and protest against the NYPD. If anything it hurt a little bit as we could've had a bigger ride with more people, but as I said, some people were there to promote bike riding, and some where there for Sean Bell and then bike riding.
As for next month, I dont see there being an issue. Cops will still be giving tickets for the stupid stuff, and onlookers will be looking in awe as they did this past Friday.
That's a BEAUTIFUL picture of Rev. Al rolling a bike! Classic. Gotta LOVE it.
Is it right for Rev. Al to hijack CM? A resounding HELL Yeaaaaaaaaaaaah! SHUT down NYC with bikes? HELL Yeaaaaaaaah!
Worked great for the French farmers protesting whatever they protest at the Tour d'France.
